Scope of DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry)

DISCIPLINE:

Thermal Analysis

INSTRUMENT:

Shimadzu DSC-60 Plus

TEMPERATURE RANGE:

Without liquid nitrogen: Room temperature to 600 ?
With liquid nitrogen: -140 to 600 ?

MATERIALS / PRODUCTS TESTED:

  • Metals and alloys
  • Polymers and plastics

MAIN APPLICATIONS OF DSC:

  1. 1. Determination of thermal transitions such as:

    • Glass transition
    • Melting
    • Crystallisation
    • Oxidation
  2. 2. Evaluation of thermal stability, purity, and phase transitions.

  3. 3. Measurement of enthalpy change (J/g) and heat capacity (Cp).

  4. 4. TM-DSC mode applications:

    • Separation of overlapping transitions (reversible/non-reversible).
    • Accurate glass transition (Tg) measurement.
    • Precise Cp determination and analysis of thermal aging behaviour.
    • Study of relaxation, curing, and crystallization kinetics.

Scope of DTG (Differential thermogravimetric)

DISCIPLINE:

Thermal Analysis

INSTRUMENT:
